RSC Publishing announces new partnership for South Africa and Botswana.
RSC Publishing is the award-winning publishing division of the Royal Society of
Chemistry and provides a broad range of resources for the scientific community
including books/eBooks, databases, journals and magazines. In recent years, RSC
Publishing has seen a significant increase in international content submissions
and subscriptions. Stephen Hawthorne, RSC Sales Director says, “Working with
WWIS gives us the opportunity to work more closely with our customers in South
Africa and Botswana and offer them a more valued customer service. We’ve seen
over 50% growth in published articles in 2011 compared to 2010, a large
proportion of it coming from the international market place and want to build on
the growth we are seeing in South Africa.”

WWIS: David triumphs Goliath in subscription services.
The origin of WWIS is Universitas, a well-respected and successful South African
subscription agency founded 1953. In 1991, the corporate and government
operations of Universitas were acquired by Mast Commercial Operations, and
renamed Mast Publications. A mere five years later, in 1996, Mast was bought by
the JSE-listed AdvTech Group as part of its expansion into publishing. In early
2006, the current WWIS management team bought out Mast from the AdvTech Group,
renaming and restructuring the company into WWIS, reflecting a new, more focused
strategic direction for the company.

Thomson Reuters appoints WWIS as agent of the year 2010
During the annual sales meeting at Thomson Reuters at the UK Online, WWIS
received the award as AGENT OF THE YEAR 2010. This was a result of hard work and
dedication from both WWIS & Thomson Reuters.
